ReflejosDelCaribe

Reflejos del Caribe is an original design collection focused on swimwear and formalwear for the spring-summer 2024 season. Inspired by the “sea of seven colors” in San Andrés, the proposal seeks to capture the iconic color transitions of the ocean through the versatility of its garments. The chosen theme, “Beach Gala” merges traditional beachwear with more elegant contexts such as weddings or cocktail events. The textiles were carefully selected to ensure both the functionality required for swimwear and the elegance expected for formal ocasión. In addition, the collection incorporates handcrafted accessories made with crochet techniques and had embroidery using crystals, adding artisanal detail and uniqueness to each piece.

Concept

The various shades of water, from deep blue to emerald green, became our primary muse. We were captivated by how the colors of the same sea transcended, revealing the diverse functionalities of water and presenting us with a unique visual spectacle—a true Colombian marvel. This project aims, through versatility, to elevate a garment of elegance and sophistication to a fully functional level, adapting it for multiple uses on different occasions. The idea is to capture the essence of the beauty and functionality of the marine environment, reflecting in our garments the same diversity and charm found in the crystal-clear waters of San Andrés.

Key Elements

Key elements

Color transitions

The color transitions of the sea have been taken as a metaphor to express the adaptability and versatility of garments, echoing the fluidity and transformation of marine hues.

Crystal Waters

The textile selection was inspired by the crystal-clear waters and their interaction with sunlight, which creates a distinctive brilliance. Materials such as organza, Chantilly lace, chiffon, and crystal embellishments were chosen to replicate this natural luminosity.

Sand

The use of Chantilly lace was inspired by the texture and patterns of the sand found on the shores of the Sea of Seven Colors. Its flowing yet textured design echoes this signature element of the Caribbean landscape.

Water movement

In terms of silhouette, the garments were designed to emulate the fluid motion of the sea. Through the use of pleats and bias cuts, the pieces achieve dynamic movement and a soft, graceful drape.
